Cycling and Mountain Biking E-mail

One popular trail not far from downtown is the 17-mile Springwater Corridor, a converted rail route that now serves as a paved recreation trail. You can reach it from downtown’s Tom McCall Waterfront Park by heading over the Hawthorne Bridge, then following the path as it loops under the bridge and points south. You’ll hug the east side of the Willamette River as you pass the Oregon Museum of Science and Industry (and its floating submarine). A few miles in you’ll ride through Oaks Bottom Wildlife Refuge as well as Oaks Amusement Park, which is one of the nation’s oldest continuously operating amusement parks.

Northwest of downtown, Forest Park has designated mountain biking trails, including Leif Erickson Drive at Saltzman Road. It’s an 11.2-mile packed dirt trail that weaves through a naturally forested area.
