There are currently 82 brewing companies that operate 114 brewing facilities in Oregon. And 50 of those breweries are in the Portland Metro area—which is more than any other city in the world! We don't just have beer, we have good beer: Oregon breweries won 56 Medals at the 2010 Australian International Beer Awards and also took seven medals at the Sixth European Beer Star, where 836 beers from more than 30 countries were in the running.
Portland is home to numerous festivals honoring the frothy drink throughout the year: The Portland International Beerfest serves up hard-to-find beers from around the globe from July 15-17, 2011 in the North Park blocks. The annual Oregon Brewers Fest is the largest outdoor craft beer festival in North America and takes place July 28-31, 2011 at Tom McCall Waterfront Park. This winter, warm up at the Holiday Ale Fest from November 30-December 4, 2011 at Pioneer Courthouse Square in downtown. During the spring, mingle with artisan brewers and vintners while sampling the fruits of their labor at the Spring Beer and Wine Fest from April 20-21, 2012 at the Oregon Convention Center. Also in spring, enjoy a draft while viewing the animal exhibits at Oregon Zoo's Zoo Brew on June 2, 2012.
PDX Pedicab offers daily Brewery Experience Tours in a uniquely Portland way, via bicycle!
