Beer

Did you know that Oregon has more breweries per person than any other place on the planet? Currently there are 89 breweries turning out high-quality craft beer. And the greatest concentration of these breweries lies in the Portland Metro area—welcome to Beervana!

In Portland, you’ll also find at least two breweries (Hopworks Urban Brewery and Roots Organic Brewing Company) whose brew masters are fully committed to producing organic beer, a trend that is gaining momentum in and around Oregon. If you’re a serious organic beer enthusiast, check out The North American Organic Brewers Festival (NAOBF) in Portland from June 26-28.

Portland hosts several festivals throughout the year that celebrate all things beer! From July 17-19, the Portland International Beerfest will serve up hard-to-find beers from near and far at the North Park blocks in the Pearl District. Held the last full weekend in July (Oregon Craft Beer Month), you’ll enjoy the Annual Oregon Brewers Fest, the largest outdoor craft beer festival in North America. You can’t miss a winter warm-up at the Holiday Ale Festival from December 2-6 at Pioneer Courthouse Square in downtown Portland. And at the Spring Beer & Wine Fest in April, you can mingle with artisan brewers and vintners while you sample the fruits of their labor.
