Fashion-Forward Portland

Welcome to Portland Fashion Week – the world's only 100% sustainable, green runway show. The Oct. 7-11 event will launch with an introduction to two Spring/Summer 2010 designer collections and will be capped with an all-sustainable fashion night. From the eco-safe styling products to the LEED Gold-certified venue used for Portland Fashion Week (including sustainable furniture & carpet, energy efficient lighting, and a runway constructed entirely of recycled plastic bottles) right down to the eco-friendly swag bags and organic food & drinks, this event is as green—and as Portland—as it gets. View the entire schedule here or buy your tickets now.

Watch Local Artists at Work

During the 10th Annual Portland Open Studios you will see a diverse group of emerging and well-established artists—painters, sculptors, glassblowers, jewelers and much more—from all over the world who have chosen to live and work in the Portland metro area. The tour hours are from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on the weekends of Oct. 10-11 and Oct. 17-18. Tour Guides, which act as your ticket and include a pull-out map with directions to each studio, can be purchased for $15 at these retail locations, via participating artists or mail order. Watch a video of Portland Open Studios 2008 to see what’s in store for you in 2009.

Jazz Up Your Fall with Free Music

Through Oct. 31st, enjoy PDX Jazz @ RiverPlace, a popular jazz series every Friday and Saturday from 8-11 p.m. at Three Degrees Lounge —an intimate listening space located on the Willamette River. The shows are free and no drink or food order is required. Through Dec. 12th, PDX Jazz @ the ArtBar offers weekend performances on select Fridays and Saturdays from 8 to 11 p.m. in the club-like atmosphere of the lobby at the Portland Center for Performing Arts (PCPA). The shows are free and always feature top Oregon ensembles.
