Downtown you’ll find dance clubs, swank hotel bars, gay bars and a bustling stretch of hotspots—Kells Irish Restaurant and Pub, Thirsty Lion Pub, Berbati’s Pan—along Second Avenue, just south of Burnside St. Nearby, you’ll also find busy music venues including Roseland, Fez ballroom, Dante’s and Crystal Ballroom.

On the south end of downtown, RiverPlace Marina is a fun spot to sit outside and sip a cocktail at one of the restaurants, including Three Degrees, McCormick & Schmick's Harborside Pilsner Room, Stanford's, and Marina Fish House, which sits on a floating dock among fancy yachts, and offers plenty of deck seating.

The Pearl District and Nob Hill feature a variety of nightlife spots, including breweries (BridgePort, Deschutes, McMenamins, Lucky Lab, Rogue Ales) and wine and martini bars (Vault, Bartini), most of which are open until 1 a.m. Also, there are at least three great spots (Uptown Billiards, Touché, Life of Riley) to enjoy a game of pool with your cocktail.

Over on the eastside you’ll find a smattering of clubs, bars and breweries. Produce Row is a popular spot among locals. It’s tucked away in an industrial area (S.E. Second and Oak) and has more than 200 types of beer and a buzzing patio. Nearby Doug Fir (Eighth Ave. and E. Burnside) is the spot to see and be seen. The interior resembles a 1950s log cabin, and the wood theme continues downstairs, where up-and-coming bands play nearly every night.
