Farmers' Markets and Food Carts |
|
Portlanders and visitors alike will enjoy perusing local, freshly-harvested bounty at Portland's farmers' markets. The largest of the area's numerous markets is at Portland State University (PSU) in downtown Portland at S.W. Park & Montgomery streets each Saturday through Dec. 17th (8:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. March through Oct.; 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Nov. & Dec.). The Thursday Northwest Market, the newest addition to the family, is located on the corner of N.W. 19th Ave. & N.W. Everett St. every Thursday through Sept. 29th from 3-7 p.m. And, the Pioneer Courthouse Square market will take place each Monday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. through Sept. 26th. This location will also be introducing the Taste of Portland Farmers Market (hot food only) Tuesdays & Thursdays from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., July 5-Aug. 18. Check the Portland Farmers Market website for other locations, hours and special events. Portland's touted culinary reputation is due, in no small way, to its ubiquitous food carts. Whether it's a falafel you crave, pad thai, a hearty bowl of lentil soup with a grilled cheese sandwich (on gluten-free bread and made with local cheese, of course!), Belgium waffles, savory pies, fish tacos or just a classic slice of New York-style pizza, you'll find it amongst the ever-popular Portland food cart scene (is your mouth watering yet?). Visit FoodCartsPortland.com for information on all the food carts throughout the city. |
