A Day of Inquiry with Gangaji – author of "The Diamond in Your Pocket: Discovering Your True Radiance," "Freedom & Resolve: The Living Edge of Surrender," and "You Are THAT!" – will be held at World Forestry Center's Cheatham Hall on March 20th beginning at 9:30 a.m. Since 1990, Gangaji has been delivering a simple message: it is possible to discover that the core of one’s being is absolute joy and fulfillment without changing a thing. Thousands of people around the world are seeking to find the answers to questions such as: what I am really doing here; what is my purpose in life; why can’t I find the happiness I seek; why does my mind never shut off; why am I so stressed out; and what is it I can do to find peace within myself? Everyone has a story about his or her life. Are any of these stories really true, or is each one just another story?
The World Forestry Center presents Sweet Escape Weekends, special chocolate-filled days that will run in conjunction with The Chocolate Story, a special exhibit that explores chocolate from its beginning as a potent and magical drink used by the Aztecs to its current worldwide popularity. The early decades of the 20th century were boom years for Portland. The population grew from 90,000 to 258,000 between 1900 and 1920, and Portlanders built homes of many types that reflected their tastes, personalities and incomes. Pittock Mansion, constructed between 1909-1914, is an unusually grand example of a Portland house. Through the exhibit At Home in Portland: 1909-1914 visitors can explore the variety of architecture styles used during this era to create a welcoming home.
